I only have one thing to say about Shu Uemura's Cream Eyeshadows, and that is: Crease, baby, crease. Seriously, for a product that sells for a whopping $30 for a lousy 5g (I could've bought almost two MAC paint pots for that...), I expected The Best Product Ever. Instead, what I got was a disgusting crease on my lids after a mere dinner out with my guy.
Unlike Shiseido's Hydro Powder formulation that was still intact after a full SHOWER (yes, I forgot to remove it before bathing), Shu Uemura ended up with a huge crease along my lids after a mere four hours outside. To be fair, the packaging is pretty and the color I chose, Light Purple, was darling, but the most important feature of Cream to Powder Eyeshadows is that they. Don't. Crease.
So if a cream eyeshadow does in fact crease, I consider it a failure despite all its other good qualities.
It's really too bad, as Shu Uemura has been touted as a fairly good brand in beauty circles. I was able to get this for Php1,150 at Rustan's Shangri-La, but I did a bit've research and it goes for $30 online. Talk about a rip-off.
This was what it looked like shortly after application. If you look closely, you can already see the beginning of the cake on my crease. It looked much, much worse when I got home afterwards, and it's pretty much ensured that I'm never going to buy cream eyeshadows from Shu. I advise staying away from this at all costs!
That said, I'd recommend checking out Shiseido or Make Up For Ever if you're looking for a light purple shade. Much better buys, as they don't crease or smudge at all. :)
Stay beautiful, ladies~!

thanks for the review! The colour is so pretty though!
That was exactly the same problem I had with the regular Shu Uemura eyeshadows. It creases worse than the others I've tried. (Even compared with drugstore brand Revlon Colorstay, ha!) Plus, I stopped buying Shu in the Philippines when I bought two bottles of their oil in Nordstrom last year.
I was shocked to find out that super classy Nordstrom sells the bottles for half the price that Rustan's offers here. That's really highway robbery right there!
I switched to Shiseido this year because they're really super gooooood. Pricey, yes, but I haven't been disappointed yet.
I hate when eye shadow crease too, it looks ugly. That's really the ultimate test for eye make up, kind of lasting lipstick.
waa shu uemura is so overpriced! though i love their store in rockwell, their sales staff is so snooty.:(
Not all expensive things works better huh? Take my Fashion21 black eyeliner, for only PhP85, it works wonder! I love it!
