Crystal Pearl BB Cream (middle) My Problem Child!
Of course, when I actually bought it and had it in my possession, I realized that it wasn't a particularly good BB Cream (too white, too sparkly, too Twilight vampire-y). That one bad choice started me down a long obsession-filled road where I tested and tried out so many different brands. Now that I've got more than a dozen different brands in my possession, I'm left to wonder what to do with them.
One of my readers texted me a few weeks ago to inquire about my Beauty Insurance BB Cream. We ended up chatting a little through text, and she mentioned that she also mistakenly bought the exact same Diamond Crystal Pearl BB Cream and that she was pretty unsatisfied with it. It got me to thinking... blog reviews are for recommending or discouraging our readers to purchase various products, but what about products that they've already bought (and don't like)?
Makeup products are not easy to resell (due to sanitary issues), and I don't have a sister to pass stuff that I don't like on to. So I have to think of new and creative ways to make sure that I don't waste my products, and below is one such way. :)
If you've mistakenly purchased Skin79's Diamond Crystal Pearl BB Cream or ANY too-white, sparkly, iridescent BB Cream, (morenas who've purchased Etude House's products know what I'm talking about, haha), you can use these easy steps to get an easy, dewy, glow.
To get this look, you will need:
1) Liquid/cream foundation OR a flat BB Cream in your color (no sparkle)
2) Concealer, perferably cream-type (I'm using Skin79's Diamond Collection Perfect Cover Beblesh Balm concealer)
3) Your too-white, too-sparkly-'cuz-I'm-not-a-Twilight-vampire BB Cream :P
STEP 1: Use your regular BB Cream/foundation as normal. I've got pretty dark circles right now because I've been sleeping late, so you'll notice my rather pronounced eye bags. :P I didn't set my BB Cream with powder, but you can if you want your base to be extra matte.
STEP 2: Conceal, conceal! I put a little dab of my Skin79 BB Cream concealer under and between my eyes because I've got discoloration there. You need to fake perfect skin to get this look to work, because having the dewy glow on top of under eye circles and/or blemishes will make you look like you ran a marathon and didn't wash up. Lol.
STEP 3: Using your previously unusable BB Cream, (again, I'm using Diamond Crystal Pearl), gently dab at the areas you wish to highlight. I'm highlighting the center of my forehead, the bridge of my nose, the tops of the apples of my cheeks, and a bit of my chin.
STEP 4: After that, just put a bit of eyeliner, mascara, and some blush and lipstick. I used SkinFood's Fresh Fruit Lip & Cheek balm for both my cheeks and lips, as it's a lovely creamy product that lends itself well to the dewy look. You'll probably want to steer clear of powder blush for your cheeks because you want to keep it very dewy.
And that's it! This look is great for gals on the go, as it's super simple to do and the upkeep is really simple. Just bring oil blotters with you throughout the day, and touch up with your favourite creme lip/cheek color.
Stay beautiful, ladies~!

Wow, this is such a nice tutorial Lizz! =) Loooove the highlighting tip. I can't imagine smothering my entire face with glitter haha - Trace
Trace- Haha, I'm glad you found it useful. It's really crazy cuz some BB Creams can be pretty terrible when you try them out for the first time. XD It's especially hard when you've got to buy them on Ebay, since you can't swatch them first...
I have been looking for it EVERYHWERE, but I can't find it here. *sniff sniff*
I was planning on ordering it on the internet, but I'm not sure I trust most of those websites. The results are amazing, by the way. I was shocked by the way it worked on me too when I got to try it in London. I guess I might just have to take a trip over there and get me some! lol
ps. thank you for stopping by my blog! I'm following you, loving all the tips!

Capulet- Oooh, I see! I must get my hands on some Geo lenses when I have extra cash, haha. The Dr. Jart BB Creams aren't available yet in Mercury, but they will be soon. I think they did the PR waaay early, haha. I hope they'll be there soon; a lot of people have been asking about them. :(
Lily- Thanks for dropping by! Glad the tutorial was useful! :D
