On Expiring Domains, Cyberspace Sentimentality, and Original Content

Well, it's that time of the year again. I own a bunch of domains (only half of which I use), and every year I get a notice that I've got to shell out another $10 to renew my names. It's funny because the one that's expiring isn't in use, (it used to be one of my art gallery websites but then I moved my folio to my namesake liezlbuenaventura.com). It's not even linked to any sort of  web hosting; it's just parked on a blogspot address and gathering dust.

 My current folio site...

And yet, somehow I can't bring myself to stop renewing it every year. It was where I kept all my paintings for four long years, and for some reason the name is still dear to me. Sentimental over cyberspace, oh my!

I guess I really should find a use for that domain. My guy hosts his sites over at hostgater, and while looking into their services I found a nifty review about their hosting services. It says that it's a mere $8.95 per month, which means that it's totally affordable if I decide to reopen my old gallery.

Still, with the likes of Deviant Art, I find it difficult to maintain a proper art website. DA just makes it too easy to upload, tag, and communicate! :(

Perhaps I'll stretch my creative juices and try to think of another use for the name. Web Hosting Fan and their reviews made it really easy to locate a good host, so now all that's left is actually trying to find content for my new/old site. Am I being silly for trying to keep my domain forever, though? Perhaps I should just call it quits and let it expire.

Oh well! It's going to expire in a few days; I guess I've got time to decide whether or not to do something with it... :P
