My new curtains!
I'm not the kind of person who can really spend years staring at the same thing, so I often rotate the paintings I display on my walls and put up a new bit of furniture every now and then. Still, little changes can only go so far, and I'm a little relieved that the coming of the new year means my lease is ending soon. After two years in my little apartment I finally feel like I'm ready to move on!
When I first went apartment hunting in 2008, the price was the number one factor. This was followed closely by the safety of the location, accessibility to my work place, and ironically enough, the view. (The latter is no longer the case; in the year and a half that I've been here, I only glanced out the window once or twice. I usually keep my curtains drawn.)
Still, with my career advancements and job stability, I now have a bit more elbow room when it comes to the rent and I'll be keeping an eye out for a bigger place. Living in the city pretty much means that there's always a mall or convenience store nearby, so location isn't as big a deal as it once was. I do enjoy living in my area right now, though, and will be looking to move nearby.
When it comes to homes for rent, what do you guys look for? Aside from the price of rent (or mortgage), what is the most important factor? Is it the commute to and from your place of work? The neighbors you would potentially have? (I think I've met only maybe one or two of my neighbors in the past couple of years, as condo living generally means keeping to one's self. I guess it just depends on the person, as a polite nod and smile will usually do.)
All in all, I think my upcoming move will be much easier than the first. I now know exactly what my priorities are, and hopefully finding the perfect place will be a snap. Wish me luck, girls! ;)

I love order and beauty too!! I Love apartments that are spacious and big kitchens are a major area for me!!
angel- Total agreement! I just love a big kitchen, even though mine is super small at the moment.
Access to public transit is one factor: we have one car and distances are huge in Canada.
A lot of light is nice. In Canada, basement apartments are my nightmare. Lucky me, I have never lived in one.
My "IDEAL" apartment is-
1. Near food chains, convenient stores or supermarket and laundry shop. I can't cook and I can't do my own laundry so this is #1.
2. QUIET. No noisy neighbors, no neighbors with noisy dogs and kids.
3. FAR away from public market. I HATE the noise and the mud, the dirt and such.
4. Wide enough space for me to push all my collections in aside from my sleeping area and the always necessary desk.
5. Nice landlady/lord. Don't you just hate it when your landlady/lord is a bitch? XD
In fact, I'm actually looking for an apartment right now. If you know a place near Pasig Church, PLEASE drop me a line/note/message/comment/shout/yell in my blog. XD
I love apartment/house hunting. For nearly 5 years of staying in Pasig, my husband and I stayed in several apartments. What I look for? 1st, the neighborhood, I always watch out for possible monster neighbors. 2nd, the interior of the house, should be well lighted, I don't like dark areas. 3. My room should have window/windows. 4. Big enough for all of our stuff and my doggies.
Try looking for an apartment in the street near Pizzahut across the church. I forgot the exact name but I believe that's a great neighborhood to start your search.
