Welcome the Rainy Season: Stocking Love

Ladies, the rainy season has officially arrived.

Walking home at night means that my legs get splashed pretty regularly, and since I steadfastly refuse to wear pants instead of skirts and dresses I've had to get pretty creative with my leg and foot wear.

Some days I choose to wear boots, but my boot choices are fairly limited (due to not really having that many pairs). On other days, I've settled upon the lovely flat shoes + stockings combo. I find plain brown tights incredibly boring, so I've spent the past month obsessively searching for stylish pairs of tights, stockings, pantyhose, and fishnets.

Now, fishnets may seem a bit over-the-top for daily wear, but pairing them with a plain black skirt and a button-down white top makes for a very striking combination. Pictured below are my favourite pair of fishnets with my flat pointed shoes:

Striped Fishnet Stockings are Love.

Don't you just love how the pinstripes wind down your legs? I also have a pair of black pantyhose with a delicate rose pattern embroidered into them, but I haven't had the chance to wear them yet.

The only problem I have with stockings is that they tend to only be good for one to two uses (three if you're lucky). I do my best not to hit anything, but walking around inevitably leads to snags, and snags means tossing the entire pair out. After all, there's nothing worse than walking around with pantyhose with runs in them!

That said, I highly recommend trying out all the different fishnet-types of hosiery. More and more designs and patterns are sprouting up, and you can find everything from stripes to diamonds to floral patterns in fishnet.

Happy shopping, ladies!

EDIT: You can find this pair (and much more) at 168 in Divisoria. It's a cramped and crowded bazaar-type shopping building, but totally worth it.

Looks cool, but does it really protect you from street splatters?

Philos - Ironically, yes! :D It also keeps my legs warm in air conditioned environments, but people always think I'm joking when I say that. It's true, though! :D
