On Art, Postcards, and Positive Thinking

It's been a busy past couple of weeks because I've been making jewelry and painting accessories during my spare time. I'm still in the middle of planning my online art store, and basically the only thing I've come up with is that I want it to be more than a simple craft or jewelry shop. I want the things that I make to be completely unique, and I want them to mean something. High hopes for a store, but then my parents always told me to aim high. Lol.

In any case, I've been looking for more surfaces to paint on lately (so far I've got jewelry, umbrellas, notebooks, and a smattering of other things), and I realized that the one thing I hadn't thought of was making prints. Prints in themselves don't really sell that well (unless you're doing superhero posters or such), but I think that art postcards would do quite well.

This, for example, is one of my pieces ("The Balloon Factory") that I'd love to see in postcard form. Printing on the internet has become quite easy, and it's become as simple as snapping a picture with a digital camera and uploading it to any number of online printing sites.

PSPrint, for one thing, is a good choice for postcard printing. It's incredibly easy to snap a picture or sketch something on PS and then upload it to the site. They also offer your typical glossy sheen (both sides) postcards as well as 100% recycled paper matte finishes. This is great because I've always thought that matte finishes look much classier than glossies, and who can resist the prospect of going green? ;)

One other option that I particularly like about this site is the fact that they offer Foil Stamping. I used to collect trading cards when I was younger, and opening a pack and getting a foil card always made the card much more special. I'm not quite sure if anyone would buy a foil postcard from me (the listed prices are a bit on the steep side), but perhaps they're worth considering for a special limited print run.

Foil Cards = Special

With so many options and things to consider, I find myself mildly worried that I may not be able to get things off the ground before my target date. Still, I just have to remind myself to keep thinking positive. After all, you never know until you try! :D (Let's just hope I don't end up penniless in the attempt, haha.)

Go for it. I'll buy a bunch of your postcards and mail them to myself.
