Confessions of a Shopaholic: Movie Review

The fabulous Isla Fisher, playing the not-so-fabulous Rebecca Bloomwood.

I won some goodies and 2 premiere tickets for my blog entry about my Shopaholic Confessions, and though I enjoyed watching the premiere of Confessions of a Shopaholic, I felt that the movie was not quite as enjoyable as the book.

While I generally enjoy book-to-movie translations regardless of how much of the story they change, I always maintain that the core message should survive the transition for the movie to be good. The original Confessions of a Shopaholic novel was a funny, crazy ride through Becky's addiction to shopping, and the entire point of it was that it was unapologetic all the way.

When faced with two options (i.e. to cut back expenses, or to make more money) to dig herself out of huge credit card debt, Becky chooses to do both and ultimately fails completely at the former. At the end of the book, Rebecca Bloomwood is neither redeemed from her shopping ails, nor does she plan to be-- she simply starts making more money, and thus is able to afford all her luxuries.

Believable? Of course not. Fun and not even marginally preachy? Oh yes.

I have nothing against movies with a "lesson", but as funny and enjoyable as the flick was, the preachy ending was so much more generic than Sophie Kinsella's novel. If you haven't read the book yet, I suggest watching the movie first and then reading the book afterwards. The movie will give you a taste of what to expect, and the goodies will come from actually reading the book. :)

Shopping is the most loving thing girls do, but you really got to be careful when doing things over. But hire in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) this new york town girl does not think, she wont to buy the best things on the planet. But in the end getting no where and understand what happens to her and advise others how to handle money. It was a good movie for every one using credit card. What the movie says magic card. Free movies http://www.80millionmoviesfree.com is where I saw this movie with so much of ease.

More like 10-second micronaps. The movie was so shrill that I couldn't sleep in peace.

I think the movie had good bits of comedy. But the ending is not so interesting...If you have kids, then watch with them together.if I were asked then I would rate it 3.5/5.
