Goodbye, Puppy! Hello, Mortimer VII.

In light of the health hazard the puppy posed (brought him to the vet and she pronounced him crawling with ticks and worms), I had to give it away to someone with a larger house and a garden. Cecil was kind enough to oblige me, and she tells me that her mum and aunt are ridiculously happy with it. They rechristened him Gucci, which is nowhere near as cool as Chewbacca, but whatever.

Anyway, my parents were both amused and exasperated with my actions, and mum was nice enough to buy me a Kenneth Cole wallet because 1) the old one was falling apart and 2) the money I could've spent to buy a new one was spent on a puppy that I kept barely 3 days.

There was a large gathering of Buenaventuras recently as well, and mum let me keep the give-away Fortune Plant. I have christened him Mortimer VII (named after the six other previous pets of the same name, all of whom died in tragic and horrible ways).

I've decided that I am unfit to parent an actual living thing that is capable of yapping (and thus disturbing my work), so pet plants for me from now on. Of course, having a pet plant doesn't really alleviate the startlingly sad combination of boredom/loneliness one gleans from working from home, so I've also been busying myself with cooking for the boyfriend. The dishes I've been preparing have been growing increasingly difficult bit by bit, but I welcome the challenge since it means I can do something creative and edible at the same time.

Beef stiryfry. This wasn't difficult at all, but I thought
the photo came out really well. :)

Red Wine Marinated Rib-Eye Steak with Gravy
which I served with:

Baby Potatoes with Corn and Carrots
(Cooked this in basil, olive oil, and butter)

Cinammon and Raisin Bagels ala French Toast
with Whipped Cream and Maple Syrup

Caramelized Apples with Whipped Cream,
Caramel Crunch Icecream and Hershey Garnish

I've been exerting extra effort into the dessert stage of my meal prep, so my lack of an oven is really making me think outside of the box. So far, I've managed to caramelize apples and pears... perhaps next week is banana week. :D

You can talk to the plant when you get lonely/bored. Just make sure that it doesn't talk back :-P

Raein - Haha, I have a penchant for exaggeration. Mostly they just got sick, or stopped eating, or in one case, jumped out of his tank to a sad and lonely death.

I like spoiling him, tee-hee. :3

JC - Yeah, it's almost like talking to myself, except .5% not as sad/pathetic. XD

At least you get a chance to have a positive impact in Mortimer VII's life by talking to him hehe... wow, beautiful food prep! I know food and beauty don't really match, but unless you bring us some next time, I don't see how I could get myself to say delish.
