2008 UAAP Cheerdance Competition - UP Pep Squad

So I normally don't post about UAAP (because we suck at basketball and really, that's the only sport people talk about during UAAP, anyway), but I felt the need to post a little something about this year's UAAP cheerdance champions.

The UP Pep Squad has always been the uni's pride and joy and they've always been exemplary, but I think they really stepped up this year. I was really surprised at their tribal theme (their costumes made my eyes cross, haha), and their routine was second to none. The bit with the maroon and green banners and its resulting disappearing act was really clever, and the naked man at the end was UP all the way. XD

I'm jaded and old and cynical but still have a little bit of school spirit in me. UP Fight! :)

And congratulations to the coach, captain, and all the members of the UP Pep Squad. You guys totally deserved your win!

Not quite sure why they got 2nd place. Salinggawi has never been known for their innovation, but they used to win because they were clean and technically proficient. Was a bit disappointed because it's like their choreographer isn't even trying anymore. Heck, even their costumes were boring.

Was better than UST, in my opinion. A very clean routine, if not exactly extraordinary. The gun theme was cute, though. :)
